West Michigan Works! moves the service center from Holland


West Michigan Works! moved its service center from Holland to a more central location.

It is now located at The Shops at Westshore at 12331 James Street, Suite 130. The 14,903 square foot space will continue to provide services to job seekers and employers in Ottawa County from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.

The old office at 121 Clover St, where West Michigan Works! operated since 2005, closed June 24.

“The location provides excellent visibility for the service center,” says Angie Barksdale, West Michigan Works! Chief Executive Officer. “We are also very pleased with the proximity to key partners at Grand Rapids Community College and the Department of Health and Human Services. »

In August 2021, Grand Rapids Community College opened its GRCC Lakeshore campus within The Shops at Westshore.

The Area Community Services Employment and Training Council (ACSET) worked with owner and developer of The Shops at Westshore, Versa Development, to build the suite to meet the needs of the labor agency -work. DA Contracting was the general contractor. Additional services were provided by ACSET, Westshore Mall Investors, Kentwood Office Furniture and other local suppliers.

West Michigan Works! the service centers provide job seekers with in-person and online career services and skills development workshops. In-person services for job seekers range from computer and internet access, to cover letter and resume workshops, to assessments and career counselling.

West Michigan Works! is part of the statewide Michigan Works! system, serving employers and job seekers in Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, Muskegon and Ottawa counties.
