Pacific Green selects contractor and battery storage supplier for 100MW project in UK


Pacific Green Technologies has appointed Instalcom Limited as the prime contractor for its 99.98 MW Richborough Energy Park (BESS) battery energy storage system in Kent, England.

Instalcom has also been awarded an operations and maintenance contract for the site, which will come into play once commercial operations via the UK national network begin in June 2023.

This announcement follows the signing of a battery supply agreement with Shanghai Electric Gotion New Energy Technology Co. Together, these elements pave the way for the start of construction of the site in early July 2022.

Pacific Green Technologies announced that it has secured £23m debt financing to develop the Richborough Energy Park BESS of the investment banking group Close Leasing in September 2021.

Following this, the company also acquired a 249 MW battery energy storage development from Sheaf Energy, as part of its exclusivity agreement with TUPA Energy as it strives to expand its UK BESS portfolio.
