Beginning Monday evening, the Tennessee Department of Transportation will begin a month of lane closures on Interstate 75 in both directions for road construction projects, according to a news release.
Workers will repair damaged concrete slabs, make repairs to bridges and install new pavement markings.
The work will reduce lanes in both directions to two from mile marker 7, near the Bonny Oaks Drive exit, to mile marker 10, between the Volkswagen Drive and Ooltewah exits, the statement said. The work is scheduled to take place at 9 p.m. on August 1.
“This extended lane closure gives the contractor the ability to work continuously (with the exception of concrete curing times), which will expedite project delivery, minimize the duration of traffic impact and provide safer conditions for the motoring public and contract teams,” the release states. “Traffic control will be in place and signage will be posted to guide motorists throughout the closure. Drivers should be prepared to expect delays and consider an alternate route during this time.”
