Hall Co Jail contract worker charged with sexual assault of inmates – WGAU


A 49-year-old Forsyth County man is charged in Hall County, charged with sexual assault while working as a food service contractor at the Hall County Jail. Charles Rice has been incarcerated in Gainesville Jail, where he faces allegations of assaults on inmates that allegedly took place last week.

A Forsyth County man employed by the contractor who provides catering services to Hall County Jail has been charged with three counts of sexual assault in connection with assaults on female inmates at the jail.

Charles Henry Rice, 49, of Cumming, is an employee of Trinity Food Service, a company that contracts out meal services for Hall County Jail. He worked as a cook at the prison and supervised the three victims, who worked as administrators in the kitchen. According to investigators, the assaults occurred between Thursday, June 16, 2022 and Saturday, June 18, 2022.

Trinity Food Service has fully cooperated with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office investigation.

“Upon becoming aware of these reported assaults, our prison staff took immediate action to ensure the suspect had no further contact with our inmates,” Sheriff Gerald Couch said. “I will not tolerate this kind of behavior from any employee. In addition, I commend the women who have reported these actions to our staff.

Rice is being held in Hall County Jail on $17,100 bond. He is not incarcerated with the general prison population.
