Tokyo, Nov. 10 (Jiji Press)–Japan’s new Economic Revitalization Minister Shigeyuki Goto hopes to put the economy on a higher growth path by implementing the latest comprehensive economic package and carrying out the initiative of the “new capitalism”.
In Japan, service consumption is recovering and economic and social activities are returning to normal, but there are risks, such as soaring energy and food prices due to the rapidly weakening yen and of a possible global economic slowdown, Goto said in an interview with Jiji Press. and other media on Wednesday.
He pointed out that the economic package to fight inflation, adopted at the end of last month, also includes measures to achieve structural social reform under the new capitalism envisioned by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
Goto expressed his readiness to “not only overcome the immediate difficulties, but put the Japanese economy on a higher notch longer-term growth trajectory” with the package.
He said it is very important to solve various social problems using technological innovation such as digital and green transformation and strive to realize the new capitalism, which will serve as an engine of growth.
