Corning board to discuss Solano Street project – Red Bluff Daily News

CORNING — City Council will discuss awarding a contract on Tuesday to make improvements to Solano Street.

This project includes the removal and replacement of existing asphalt improvements, minor site concrete work, striping and minor landscaping improvements at the intersections of Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Streets.

Several companies submitted bids for the project, ranging from $979,105 to $1,508,848. Walberg, Inc. placed the lowest bid.

City staff recommends that council award the contract to Walberg, Inc. due to its low bid.

The majority of construction funding came from a lawsuit filed by the city against Trent Construction, the project‘s original contractor.

In other cases

The council will hold a public hearing for an ordinance that would bring the city into compliance with Assembly Bill 481.

This bill requires local law enforcement agencies to obtain approval for military equipment used by police through an order at a public hearing.

Another public hearing is scheduled regarding a resolution ordering the annexation of the 53 parcels of the Magnolia Meadows subdivision into a landscape and lighting district.

Tuesday’s meeting will be in person at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 794 Third St. Meetings are free and open to the public.
