Boul. Sherwood Pavement and Drainage Improvements

Star Paving Company crews will continue road and drainage improvements on Sherwood Blvd. between Piedra Loop and Longview Dr.

Boul. Sherwood will be closed to through traffic north of the intersection of Aztec Ave. The Sherwood and Aztec intersection will be closed from April 28 to May 5. Sherwood residents will be required to enter and exit Sherwood via Grand Canyon Dr. This closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of a new storm drain and gutter on Aztec Avenue. Sidewalks will be closed and barricaded to pedestrians as crews remove and replace sections of sidewalk. Traffic devices and detour signs are in place to facilitate the circulation of motorists, cyclists and pedestrians in the work area. Vehicle access is limited to those residing in the immediate work area and for mail delivery, emergency services, garbage and recycling collection. For the safety of the traveling public, residents are asked not to remove or move traffic control devices, signs and barricades. Area residents who may have special access needs are asked to contact the Public Works Department.

Closure of Sherwood Blvd. from Grand Canyon Dr. to Aztec Ave. for this first phase of work is scheduled until the end of June, while the closure of the next phase of roadwork from Piedra Loop to Grand Canyon is scheduled for June to July 2022.

Bixby Electric works at Piedra Loop and Sherwood Blvd. installation of a new lamp post at the intersection. Working hours are subject to change depending on weather conditions and any major shipping delays. Working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Partial closure of the Canyon Rim Trail due to construction activities

Contractors from Qualcon Builders (Canyon Walk Apartments) will be placing rock and landscaping along the south side of the Canyon Rim Trail between DP Rd. and the DP Canyon Bridge Monday, May 2 through Friday, May 6 between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. During this activity, the south side of the trail will be intermittently closed as rock and landscaping are placed by a small piece. equipment. Contractor employees (flaggers) will be on hand to direct trail users safely into the work area during these times. Trail users are urged to use caution and follow the direction of flaggers during this work.

Traffic and street projects:

The projects listed in this section are managed by staff of the County Traffic and Streets Division. Please slow down and use caution in construction work areas. Call Daniel Blea, Acting Traffic and Street Manager, at 505-663-8206.

County-wide striping

Crews will continue to strip roads in White Rock and Los Alamos. Vehicles and pedestrians are asked to maintain a safe distance from the tracing equipment to prevent their property from being sprayed with paint.

Manhole adjustment on Entrada Dr. and Camino Entrada

Crews will adjust manholes on Entrada Dr. near the Los Alamos Cooperative and on Camino Entrada at the entrance to Entrada Dr. Crews were unable to complete this work last week as scheduled. Work will start at 8 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. starting Monday, May 2 and will continue until May 3. Signage operations will be in place for both locations.

Sidewalk Repair On Rover Blvd. and Connie Avenue.

Crews will repair sections of sidewalk between 300 and 500 Rover Blvd. and between 318 and 324 Connie Avenue, both on the north side of the road, from Monday May 2 to Friday May 6. Work will begin daily at 8 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. Sidewalks will be closed as needed. and diversions will be in place for pedestrian traffic. Please follow traffic control signs. Vehicular traffic can expect intermittent delays during the delivery of cement mixers. Reporting operations will be put in place as needed.

Other county projects:

The projects listed in this section are handled by other county staff outside of public works. Please slow down and use caution in construction work areas.

1505 15and Utility Works on St. and Nectar Streets – Sidewalk Closures and Detours

From May 2 through May 10, Cablecom of NM, LLC will replace cable along the 15and and Nectar St. There will be sidewalk closures on both sides of Nectar (between Rose St. and 15and) and 15and (between Sage Loop and Nectar). Crews will dig under the street and pull new cables. Detour signs will be in place for all sidewalk closures. Please follow all traffic devices and slowdown in these areas to avoid accidents.
