The concrete paving of the rue Principale and Rue Commerciale project in Marseille is being completed as the work progresses.
Marseille city engineer Mike Etscheid said the bridge deck has yet to be completed, although construction workers will have to wait for warmer weather.
“We have a contractor lined up to do the bridge deck,” Etscheid said. “Half of it needs the surface removed. We are expecting warmer weather due to the black trim.
The temperature must be 45 degrees for contractors to coat the bridge deck.
Etscheid said if contractors could complete half of this project this year, the temporary stoplight on Main Street could go out during the winter and contractors would turn the light back on in the spring.
The Commercial and Main Streets project began in May and was scheduled to run through the end of October, but new projects, such as bridge work and watermain work, have been incorporated into the plan. initiative and created a need for more time.
The scheme’s plan was to create an S-curve on the east side near Broadway Street, bringing Commercial Street north about six feet from Ziggy’s Bar and Grill on the corner.
Etscheid said in October that this project was run by the state of Illinois, so the city has no control over the contract.
