Lehi City Council on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution approving an agreement with SIRQ Construction to build Fire Station 84. A few miles away, American Fork also approved an amended contract with SIRQ Construction to build from fire station 52.
The agreement between Lehi and SIRQ Construction covers pre-construction and construction management/general contractor services for the new fire station. Lehi will pay SIRQ Construction $9,970 for pre-construction services, $392,000 for terms and conditions, and 3.9% of the total project cost for construction management services.
“We’ve been working hard to get through the contractors and cut them down, and it looks like the SIRQ will be the best moving forward,” said Lehi Fire Chief Jeremy Craft. “So we’re excited to have them on board.”
Lehihas made a budget request of $9,400,000 for fiscal year 2023 for the construction of the station, which will be at 1500 N 3600 W. According to the resolution, construction should begin immediately on Fire Station 84 and must be completed by November 1. 2023.
Fire Station 52 will be the second fire station in American Fork and is expected to be built in the northeast part of the city in an effort to ease the burden on Fire Station 51, which is currently the busiest in the city. Utah County.

“In 2018, we responded to 3,182 service calls. Other cities may have a higher total number of calls, but they also have more fire stations,” reads the city’s website. “That means their call volume per fire station is much lower. In fact, the second-highest fire station call volume was less than half of what American Fork does.
The construction budget for this project is just over $11.5 million and will be paid for by Police and Fire Expenses, as well as the voted and approved American Fork Fire Station Bond. by voters in 2019.
The city entered into a contract with SIRQ Construction for construction management and general contracting services for the new fire station in October 2020 while parts of the project were still under development.
“Now, almost 2 years later, the scope of the project has been tightened, a site for Station 52 has been secured and the City has been presented with a guaranteed maximum price (GMP).” reads a request for council action in American Fork.
According to this request, the original contract provided for a contract amendment to facilitate any additional information gathered during the design phase and to enable the development of the GMP, which was set at $9,112,335.
The completed fire station will be 12,200 square feet on one level and will include a 3-bay apparatus bay, six fire bunkhouses, fitness room, training/meeting room, kitchen/dining room and a day room.
The station will also house a police office and interrogation room, as well as a firing range for the American Fork Police Department.
Construction milestones have yet to be set for this project, however, the city’s website indicates that Fire Station 52 will be completed in 2022-23.
SIRQ Construction is a Lehi-based company that also built the Joseph D. Adams Public Safety Building in Lehi, which was completed in October 2020, as well as the Saratoga Springs Public Safety Building.
